Like most things in life, the best parts are the beginning and the end. Your salon visit is no exception. A relaxing scalp massage relieving built-up tension from daily life’s stresses is one of life’s true luxuries. We think many hairstylists forget the shampoo is the best part, rushing through your shampoo experience and leaving you wanting more time relaxing and less time talking.
The blowdry can be painful with excess pulling or make you want to nap during the service because you’re so relaxed. We prefer to help you relax and enjoy your few moments of peace before you rush back to life as usual. A blow-dry is one of many of our clients’ biggest luxuries. Most say if they won the lottery, they could come into to our studio for a blowout every day!

Shampoo, Deep Condition, and Style
Everyone’s hair has a different texture and density. It’s important for a hairstylist to use the right shampoo and conditioner to achieve the finish style you want. After carefully choosing the right hair care products you can lay back and begin the relax with a soothing scalp massage. Every hair styling service comes with a deep conditioning mask to infuse your hair with the nutrients it needs to achieve professional salon results. After cleansing and conditioning, we bring out our weapons of mass creation, giving you a hairstyle worthy of a “selfie” as soon as you get in your car.
FAQ
Hair requires some sort of pomade, gel, mousse, or smoothing product to give it a little extra control when you’re styling. Use a styling product after combing through your hair and come through the hair before blow drying. Use good bush such as a round brush or a flat brush after the hair is about 50% dry, using it to smooth and set the hair in place. After the hair is dry you can work through a small amount of smoothing oil if hair is frizzy. Be careful not to use oil at the scalp, but focus more on the mid-shaft to the hair ends. You may use a working or finishing hairspray to complete your hair style.
- See your hairstylist every 6-8 weeks for a trim to cut any split ends from the hair.
- If hair is damaged use a professional hair mask or protein reconstructor after every 5-7 shampoos to repair damaged and keep hair hydrated hair.
- Watch the heat! Excessive heat styling will wear away the protective coating of the hair. If you’re trying to grow your hair long be careful with flat ironing and blow drying, and use a cooler setting on hair styling tools.
- Massage your scalp when shampooing. Massage creates blood flow and loosens the scalp. This will assist in hair growth.
- Eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise. Metabolism has a lot to do with how fast your hair grows. The healthy you are, the healthy your hair is.
A blow dry, sometimes referred to as a blow out, is the art of shaping, smoothing, and curling hair into a desired hair style.

The Modern Dilemma: High-End Style vs. High-Maintenance Reality
Are you tired of the “salon-suite cycle”? You know the one: you spend four hours and a significant portion of your paycheck on a gorgeous, high-contrast color, only to feel “overgrown” and stressed just three weeks later. In a world already filled with sensory overload, your hair shouldn’t be another source of chaos.
At BLU Salon, we’re helping our Monrovia clients break up with high-maintenance hair and embrace low maintenance haircolor.
In our latest guide, we reveal the professional secrets to looking high-end while spending less time and money at the salon. We’re diving deep into the art of grey blending, the seamless magic of root smudging, and why micro-fine baby lights are the key to a glow that lasts for months, not weeks.
Luxury isn’t about how often you’re in the chair—it’s about how confident you feel between appointments. If you’re ready to reclaim your time and your budget without sacrificing your style, this is the “reset” you’ve been waiting for.

The Great Beauty Edit: Why “Hairimalism” is the Ultimate Spring Cleaning Goal
We’ve all been there: you open your bathroom cabinet and an avalanche of half-used sea salt sprays and three-year-old mascaras greets you like a cluttered “to-do” list. In 2026, we’re officially breaking up with the chaos.

From the “Skinification of Hair” to the ultimate Beauty Edit, we’re sharing our professional guide to clearing the clutter and reclaiming your glow.
Is your bathroom a sanctuary or a storage unit? It’s time for a reset.

The Path from Chaos to Confidence: How to Fix a Bad Haircut and Find Your Peace Again
We have all experienced that universal sinking feeling: the cape is removed, the chair is spun around, and the reflection in the mirror doesn’t match the vision in your head. In a world that already feels loud and demanding, your hair is supposed to be your crowning glory—the one part of your identity you can never take off, even while you sleep. When a haircut goes wrong, the sensory overload can feel like a personal crisis.
But a bad haircut isn’t just a style mishap; it’s a disruption of your peace. Managing hair regret requires more than just waiting for it to grow; it requires a strategic reset. Whether your layers are too choppy or your bangs are too short, there is a path from chaos back to confidence. At BLU Salon, we specialize in the art of the hair correction—turning “mistakes” into a tailored, professional evolution that restores both your look and your spirit.

Fabulous Date Night Hair: From Old Money Blowouts to Edgy Updos
The biggest challenge with date night hair is ensuring that the style you leave the salon with is the same style that greets you in the mirror at the end of the evening. As a premier Monrovia hairstylist, we understand that longevity isn’t just about hairspray; it is about the molecular manipulation of the hair during the service.
When we perform our signature blowout, we utilize the “Cool Shot” method combined with BOB Professional’s thermal sealants. By applying controlled heat and then immediately flash-cooling the hair section by section, we “lock” the cuticle in place. This prevents the moisture in the Monrovia air from penetrating the hair shaft, which is what usually causes a blowout to fall flat or frizz. Whether you opt for a high-volume “Old Money” look or one of our textured edgy updos, this scientific approach ensures your date night hair remains red-carpet ready from the first toast to the final dance.
